I am sorry for the young lady and hope she recovers, that having been said.... I agree with Kannin. There are millions of people who pass away from preventable deaths. Medical errors and the side effects of prescription medicine, sugar, tobacco, and bpa kill millions.

I too feel concerned that the mother could have had an accident. There can be a lot of pain after childbirth, and possibly a lot of blood loss, weakness, etc. IMHO, she shouldn't have been driving.

Roy Wilson, Um... poor kids get free lunch at school, and subsidized day care (if they go to day care). Normal kids don't. You forgot those figures in your calculations. I agree with the point you were making.
